Five Elements

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Five Elements Philosophy helps us to understand the relationship between the different elements in nature and the "qi" (Life force) that flows through them.

Everything in nature is made up of five basic elements: water, wood, fire, earth and metal. Knowledge of the five elements allows us to understand the laws of nature and to explore them and make them part of our life. It can bring us greater health, power, knowledge, wisdom and happiness.

Each of these element groups includes characteristics such as seasons, directions, climate, internal organs, body tissue, emotion, taste, color, sound, and so much more. Understanding the five elements can help us to understand how everything in humanity is interconnected and it helps us to become aware of how our lives can be affected when those elements around us and within us are off balance.

In my healing work as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I help my clients to be more balanced and encourage them to learn about the elements and bring them into their daily life.

I believe that imagery is a great way to help people to connect with the Five Elements. One can be touched by images of nature and water, and understanding what elements are dominant in each of my clients can help me to choose the perfect outdoor site to shoot an individual portrait or a family portrait. It can help someone surfing my website to also connect to certains images in a particular element.

The purpose of the Five Elements galleries is to educate and possibly help you to discover your inner connection to nature and bring around you artwork that will soothe your soul and bring calm, joy and happiness in your home. Once we understand the philosophy of the Five Elements, we can understand and connect in a more spiritual, and loving way to the one around us and it can help us to choose more carefully how we want to decorate our home or create a family gathering and activities.

My lovely wife, Lisa, has a strong Earth energy as well as Wood and Metal. But her Wood energy is quite prominent and I can say that when I met her she was so “black and white” and her favorite colors complemented with greens and teal. As I brought in my strong Earth and Fire energy, I wanted red and orange-yellow colors around me to enhance my creativity and with it, I brought my high, crazy, overwhelming energy at times. But we both have a strong Earth and Metal energy, which has helped us to accept each other's differences and find more balance in our lives. Today our home represents that love and harmony we share.
